A Woolworths shopper has shared her disgust after an unsettling find inside a roast chook.
Victorian mum-of-three Kalisha said she was preparing to feed the hot chook to her children when she made the grisly discovery.
The shopper claims there was a bloody internal organ inside the chicken, which she believes to be a heart.
A Woolworths spokesperson said the supermarket has apologised for the incident, which they describe as “unacceptable”.
Sharing photos of the disturbing find on Facebook, Kalisha said it also appeared to be undercooked.
“Got a roast chicken and it’s got an organ in it still and undercooked,” she wrote.
A Woolworths spokesperson said the supermarket had launched an investigation after the customer kindly returned it to store.
“We pride ourselves on providing high quality roast chickens to our customers and regret that this customer received one well below our usual standards,” the spokesperson said.
“It’s clearly unacceptable and we’re following up with our chicken supply partner and in-store team to understand how this happened.
“We’ve apologised to the customer for their experience and also offered a refund. We’re unaware of any similar reports on our roast chickens at this time.”
