Victoria COVID case update on Thursday as Chadstone and MCG remain on alert

As contact tracers scramble to find the source of Victoria’s first mystery COVID infection in months, the state has returned to a double donut day.

On Thursday, the Department of Health and Human Services confirmed there had been zero new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, both locally and in international returned travellers.

This comes from another huge day of 32,767 tests and brings the total of active cases in the state to 38, which is a drop of three from a day earlier.

On Wednesday, Victoria recorded one locally acquired case and both Monday and Tuesday had three.

Authorities are continuing to search for the acquisition site after a man aged in his 30s contracted the virus with no known links to the Black Rock restaurant cluster.
