Utah monolith: Mysterious metal monolith found in Utah desert has now disappeared

A tall, silver, shining metal monolith that mysteriously appeared in the desert in southeastern Utah – prompting theories it had been left behind by aliens – has now just as mysteriously disappeared.

The monolith was removed by an “unknown party” sometime Friday night, the state’s Bureau of Land Management said in a Facebook post.

“We have received credible reports that the illegally installed structure, referred to as the ‘monolith,’ has been removed”, the post said.

“The BLM did not remove the structure, which is considered private property.”

The metal structure was first spotted on November 18 by state officials who were helping to count sheep from a helicopter, although how it got there was unclear.
