US man allegedly stabbed 18-month-old daughter to death, claiming ‘sacrifice to God’

A man in the US allegedly stabbed and suffocated his 18-month-old daughter to death, claiming it was a “sacrifice to God.”

Mark Hambrick is accused of killing his daughter Amina in New Orleans in 2017 so that he could be “executed and resurrected,” Metro UK reports.

Hambrick is said to believe that he is Jesus Christ and receives direct messages from God.

A hearing on Tuesday intended to determine whether the father would ever be mentally competent to stand trial.

An expert witness, Dr Janet Johnson, said Hambrick believed he would be executed in 2019, the 400th anniversary of the first slave ships arriving in America.

She said he had the ability to “bend reality” to fit his delusions and was unwavering in his personal beliefs.

State doctors have testified that they believe the man’s mental illness is too severe for him to face a jury.

After Amina died, Hamrick called police, told them what he had done, and waited for them to come and arrest him, which they did with no resistance.
