Team NZ close in on America’s Cup success

Team New Zealand have put themselves in a commanding position to retain the America’s Cup, taking a 6-3 lead in the best-of-13 challenge.

The Kiwis beat Luna Rossa in the weather-delayed ninth race of the 36th America’s Cup on Tuesday, crossing 30 seconds ahead of the challengers to ease further ahead.

TNZ can seal the America’s Cup, the oldest trophy in international sport, with victory over the Italian crew, which is co-helmed by Australia’s Jimmy Spithill, in race 10 later on Tuesday.
