A Sydney man has reacted to news he had become an instant millionaire by assuming he was being pranked.
The Campbelltown man, aged in his 30s, said he was having the “worst morning ever” before receiving a call from Lotto officials.
He was one of ten people who took home a division one prize in Lotto’s $20 million Saturday Superdraw, each of them pocketng $2 million.
But the man said he thought the call was a hoax.
“Bulls***! Who is this? You’ve got to be kidding me! I’m serious, you had better not be messing with me,” he told Lotto officials.
“I’ve had the worst morning too and if I find out you’re messing with me, I’ll be so p***ed.
“I wasn’t even going to answer your phone call, so this had better be real!”
‘Can’t believe it’
After confirming the news himself using his Lotto app, the man embraced the good news.
“No way! It is real! I’ve won two million dollars! Haha!” he said.
“Oh my f***ing god! I love you! Do you want to marry me?
“I can’t even believe you! Oh my god! This is the best news ever!
“I can’t believe it. It’s such good timing you have no idea. I’ve just had the busiest and worst morning. This has really turned it around!
“I can’t even think properly. Oh my god! It’s the best day ever! My heart is pumping!
The man revealed he played the same numbers every Saturday – numbers chosen years ago using birthdays and anniversaries.
The Sydney winner said the first thing he’ll do is take a break – when he can.
“I’ll be going on holiday as soon as the borders open,” he said.
“The rest will go into the bank, and I’ll have to think about how to spend it.”
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4099 on October 31 2020 were 19, 4, 26, 27, 34 and 13, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 15.
Four of the remaining nine winners came from New South Wales, with three others from Queensland, two from Victoria and one from Western Australia.
