Tottenham Hotspur have joined Brentford and Manchester City in the League Cup semi-finals after a comfortable 3-1 win at Championship side Stoke City.
Former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale opened the scoring for Spurs after 22 minutes before Stoke equalised through Jordan Thompson early in the second half when he tucked away Jacob Brown’s cross at the far post.
That signalled a turn of the screw from the EPL side, with Ben Davies blasting a long-distance strike in off the post and Harry Kane firing home a third with 10 minutes left to send Jose Mourinho’s men through to the final four.
Everton or Manchester United will complete the semi-final line-up later on Wednesday, after which the draw for the next phase will be made.
Seven-time winners and current holders Manchester City progressed with a 4-1 hammering of Arsenal on Tuesday after underdogs Brentford booked their first major semi-final with a 1-0 win over Newcastle.
