Sonos has taken the wraps off its new portable speaker called ‘Roam’.
The small speaker features smart capabilities, promises all-day battery life and a waterproof and durable design that makes it a true mobile audio device that you can take anywhere.
While the upcoming release from Sonos may be small, it’s not lacking in what makes a speaker great. It charges wirelessly using any Qi charger or Sonos has a custom-designed magnetic wireless charger that snaps onto the base. The custom wireless charger isn’t included and will be available as an additional accessory.
Sonos says that ‘Roam’ will provide ten hours of continuous music playback from a single charge, and when not in use will fall asleep to save power for up to ten days.
One of the most interesting features of the device is called ‘Sound Swap’. It provides the ability to move sound around to and from the nearest speaker by pressing and holding the play/pause button.
As with all of Sonos’ latest speakers, you’ll also get access to streaming services for music, podcasting and audiobooks. Sonos Radio accesses more than 60,000 live stations from around the world as well as curated stations from Sonos.
Sonos Roam will be available in Australia from April 20 in two colours – Lunar White and Shadow Black. Pre-orders are now available from the sonos.com website.
Local pricing will be announced closer to release.
