Samantha Armytage is entering 2021 as a married woman
It’s understood the ceremony was held at Richard’s rural property in the picturesque NSW Southern Highlands and attended by a small group of the happy couple’s closest family and friends.
The special day caps off a rollercoaster year for the popular breakfast TV presenter.
Sam announced her engagement in June, revealing that “Rich” had popped the question at his 40-hectare property.
“We’d been picking weeds in the paddock and he said ‘darling, do you want to marry me?” she said. “It was very sweet, very romantic,” she said on Sunrise.
“He’s just a very decent, lovely fellow. He is totally the opposite of the showbiz world and TV.”
Then tragedy struck in August when Sam shared the sad news that both of her parents had been hospitalised.
The 44-year-old told viewers that her mum, Libby, was “gravely ill” as she has an autoimmune disease, which had resulted in heart failure.
Her father, Mac, had suffered a stroke.
While Sam’s dad recovered and was discharged from hospital, his wife Libby sadly passed away three months later in November.
Sam took to Instagram at the time to pay tribute to her mum and open up about the devastating loss of a parent.
“She had fought bravely for a long time and suffered a lot, but finally her big-loving heart just couldn’t do it anymore,” Armytage said.
“We are very, very sad. She was wonderful; kind, loving, loyal, wildly wicked, funny & formidable.
“She will be missed forever, but she’s at peace now.. forever an angel. RIP Libby Armytage 13/11/51-3/11/20.”
Samantha Armytage will return to the Sunrise desk in January 2021.
