Looking for an amazing Christmas table centrepiece that won’t cost the Earth?
The clever ladies at the Kmart Home Decor & Hacks Australia Facebook group have come up with an ingenious hack that will 100 per cent transform your festive dinner table – and it all involves a $2 pool noodle that you can get from Kmart.
In a Christmas decorating trend sweeping Australia, people are using the water toy to create inspired centrepieces that look like they’re worth hundreds of dollars.
How to make using a pool noodle
Using the noodle as a base, you can cut it in half lengthways to create a flat base to sit on the table (although some people are using a full pool noodle as well).
It is then wrapped in tinsel, baubles, foliage, snow spray or even fairy lights, finally attaching decorations using a $5 Kmart hot glue gun. Another variation involves only attaching coloured baubles to the noodle, to create a striking feature.
One member of the group shared her creation to inspire others in the lead up to Christmas.
“I made it using the same technique, just using different colour baubles and flowers, I hope some of these pictures helps (sic) with how I made it,” she wrote in the Facebook post that has almost 3000 reactions.
The best part? Anyone can do it and you can use any colour combination and totally customise the look to match your decor – with some people even adding candles for an extra special touch.
And with Kmart and other variety stores selling a huge range of decorations and baubles at bargain prices, it can be a very inexpensive option.
‘I’m not craft AT ALL, but I’m really happy with my noodle hack,’ said one Kmart mum to the Facebook group.
Said another: ‘My 7 year old & I had such a fun craft day creating this beauty. We used a hot glue gun and a pool noodle cut in half as the base. My kids collected and painted the pine cones.’
