An office fridge thief has been exposed after a colleague’s “genius” ploy.
A woman went to the fridge and saw that her pack of free-range eggs had been stolen.
Determined to find the thief, she wrote a revenge note.
She claimed the eggs were poisoned and that the thief would have to come to her for the antidote.
And apparently the ruse worked – the office thief came forward, panicking from reading her note.
“Attention attention attention!!!” the note read.
“To whom it may concern:
“I had a carton of eggs in the fridge and its (sic) gone.
“Who ever took the eggs, please know that those eggs are not chicken eggs and are not meant for consumption.
“If you have consumed them please discard.
“But if you have please see me for the antidote.
“They are eggs from a rare bird in Africa.”
The office worker apparently outed himself and she made him pay her back for the eggs.
The woman’s son took to Twitter to commend her cleverness.
“So my mom saw that her eggs were missing at work so she posted this note,” he wrote.
“Later some white dude came to her stressed af for the antidote thinking he was going to die ngl this is genius.”
In subsequent tweets, her son added: “After he confessed, he is paying her back for the eggs.
“Moral of the story, don’t touch what’s not yours!!!”
The tweet soon attracted a lot of attention, with more than 200,000 likes.
“I woulda taken it further… made him drink some mad concoction after he confessed and then been like ‘only joking’,” commented one person.
Other people shared their own experiences.
“I’d had a baby and everyone at work knew I pumped for him,” wrote one woman.
“People kept stealing my cream so one day I posted a note saying that whoever was taking cream from x bottle was using my breast milk for their coffee as I used it for storing. Never happened again.”
