Mystery COVID case puts MCG and Chadstone shopping centre on alert

A person who tested positive to COVID in Victoria may have contracted the virus at the MCG during the second day of the Boxing Day Test.

The man, in his 30s, developed symptoms on December 30 and later tested positive to the virus.

It’s not believed he was infectious at the Test and the case is currently under investigation.

“Out of an abundance of caution and to provide this information to the Victorian community, we’re declaring both the MCG and Chadstone shopping centre as an acquisition site to rule out any potential source on that day,” Acting Premier Jacinta Allan said on Wednesday.

Anyone who was seated in the Great Southern Stand in Zone 5 from 12.30-3.30pm is asked to get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.
