Mark Wahlberg reveals where Australia’s first Wahlburgers restaurant will be

“We should have taken a note from you guys and really just locked everything down right away and made sure that everybody quarantined for two weeks,” he said, referencing America’s pandemic disaster.

The star added that he’d love to move Down Under, but his wife, model Rhea Durham, “makes those kinds of decisions.”

Wahlberg was appearing on the Channel Seven breakfast show to share the exciting news that his burger restaurant chain, Wahlburgers, is coming to Australia.

The US fast-food favourite is opening 20 stand-alone restaurants across the country, as well as some in United Cinema locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

“We are bringing Wahlburgers to Sydney Harbour – it will be the first location to open sometime in early 2021,” he confirmed.

“Hopefully we’ll be creating a cinematic and restaurant family experience for entertainment for years to come.”

The actor, who says he is “very involved” with the business, said “there’s nothing better than going to a theatre with a group of friends or family and having that experience of laughing and crying together and going out for a meal.”

The chain currently has over 50 locations, predominately across the US.

The restaurants offer casual style dining with a vibe that aims to make guests feel “like family”.

Its menu items include “fresh ground beef burgers, entrée salads and sandwiches, loaded tots and frothy shakes”.
