Posting on a popular Facebook page, home cook Kellie attracted thousands of reactions to her unbelievable pork belly recipe.
Kellie described the dish as “what dreams are made of”, adding that she’d only bought her Kmart 5.3L Air Fryer just one month ago.
Kellie revealed two special tricks to cooking the killer pork – pouring a kettle of boiling water over the skin TWICE before you pop it in the air fryer and leaving it to rest for at least 30 minutes.
“I’ve only had my Kmart air fryer a month, but can’t imagine life without it anymore!” wrote Kellie on the Share Kmart Air Fryer Recipes Australia page.
“Last night’s pork belly was what dreams are made of.
“1.6 kilo, taken out of plastic and washed and dried then placed, uncovered, in fridge for 24 hours.
“Then placed on rack over the sink and (I) poured a kettle of boiled water over entire skin.
“Then dried and scored in 1cm lines, then another kettle of boiling water to open the cuts.
“Dry with paper towel, douse in olive oil and plenty of salt.”
How to make it
Kellie said she then placed it in her air fryer with a cup of water at the base for 25 minutes at 200C.
She then reduced the temperate to 160C for 40 minutes, then back up to 200C for 20 minutes.
“Rest rest rest, the secret to juicy roast meats,” continued Kellie.
“This (piece of pork belly) rested for about 30 minutes, I wrapped the meat area in a foil basket while leaving the crackling exposed still.
“Was so tender, still piping hot and meat was unbelievably juicy.
“Crackling was an out of body experience.”
Kmart fans were blown away by Kellie’s delicious-looking pork.
“Get in my belly,” said one.
Added another: “Looks so good. Best pork belly I’ve seen in a long time.”
