Indian man returns home days after being declared ‘dead’ and cremated

An Indian man has purportedly returned home days after he was falsely declared dead, and was believed to have been cremated by his family.

Shibdas Bandyopadhyay, 75, was admitted to a hospital in Barasat, West Bengal on November 11 after he tested positive for COVID-19, the New Indian Express reported.

Two days later, his family were notified he had succumbed to the illness, a health department official told the outlet on Saturday.

The body, which was kept in a freezer bag, had been shown to the family at a distance.
