Family and friends of a young Adelaide woman who was allegedly murdered before being buried in a shallow grave have visited the outback location to pay tribute to her.
Jasmeen Kaur’s body was found buried 430km away from Adelaide in the Flinders Ranges, near Hawker, on March 8.
The 21-year-old was found dead days after she was reported missing.
On Wednesday, friends and family made the pilgrimage to the Flinders Ranges where they prayed that she rest in peace.
“We love you Jasmeen, our Jessu. You have a special place in our hearts and will forever be missed,” friend Raman Kaur said.
“May your soul rest in peace wherever you are.
“If you’re watching us – love you and miss you a lot.”
Raman added she still couldn’t believe she’d never see Jasmeen again.
“Our Jassu was the most polite, kind-hearted and helpful girl,” she said.
“She was the cook of the house, hairstylist of the family and miss dependable with a big smile always.
“We still believe she is here. She’s here somewhere around and she’s still watching us.”
Native trees were also planted at the site to remember the young aged care worker and flowers were laid.
A 20-year-old man, who is known to the young woman, has been charged with murder over her death.
Despite leading police to the shallow grave, the man, who cannot be identified, denies being involved in her death.
Police last week said he may have been observing Jasmeen for weeks before her death.
It’s also suspected the young woman may have been “taken by force”.
Jasmeen was reported missing on March 6 by her aunt and uncle, who she was living with, after she failed to turn up to work.
She was last seen the previous night as she finished work at Southern Cross Aged Care in Plympton North.
Police made an appeal to the public for information and dashcam footage as they piece together Jasmeen’s final moments and the man’s movements between the time of her disappearance and when her body was located.
Detectives are also still searching for some of Jasmeen’s property including her handbag and a plate and knife.
