The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie has spoken publicly for the first time in the royal couple’s debut podcast for Spotify.
The Holiday Special features interviews with stars including Sir Elton John, James Corden and tennis champ Naomi Osaka as they look back on the past year and share their “lessons, reflections and hopes for 2021”.
The half-hour podcast ended with a sweet moment as Harry and Meghan’s 19-month-old son Archie wished listeners a happy new year.
“After me. Ready? Happy…” Prince Harry can be heard saying to his son.
“Happy,” Archie repeated.
“New,” the duke and duchess said.
“New… Year,” the toddler replied, with a notable American accent.
In the podcast, the royal couple paid tribute to those who “have experienced uncertainty and unthinkable loss” during a difficult year.
They also thanked frontline healthcare workers for their sacrifices.
“We’re glad you’re here. As we all know, it’s been a year. And we really want to honour the compassion and kindness that has helped so many people get through it,” Harry said.
“From us, I’ll say no matter what life throws at you guys, trust us when we say, love wins,” Meghan added.
The podcast, which is available to stream now, is expected to be the first of many from the couple after they signed a multi-year deal to produce and host audio programmes for Spotify.
It comes after they stepped back from their royal duties in January and moved to Southern California.
