Former Sydney priest charged with 13 historical child sex offences

A former priest has been charged with the alleged sexual assault of two boys over a five-year span.

The alleged historical sexual assault occurred in Sydney’s west and on the New South Wales South Coast between 1986 and 1991.

Police launched an investigation last August.

It culminated on Wednesday in the arrest of a 70-year-old man.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice at a facility in Malabar on 13 charges related to the historical sexual assaults.

The charges include four counts of indecent assault of a person under 16 and two counts of sexual intercourse with a person aged between 10-16 years old.

Police will allege in court that the man, who was a priest at the time of the allegations, sexually assaulted two boys aged between 11 and 17 years old who were under his care.

He will appear in Penrith Local Court on Thursday.
