COVID numbers in NSW revealed, state reports new cases today as Christmas gathering restriction change comes into effect

New South Wales health authorities are scrambling to prevent a second coronavirus cluster emerging in Sydney’s CBD.

Nine new cases were reported on Thursday morning.

Seven of those were linked to the Avalon cluster, bringing it to a total of 104 cases.

Two are under investigation and one of those lives in the Northern Beaches, while the other has no known links to the cluster.

He is a man in his 40s who works in the CBD, Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said.
