Channel 7 star Angela Cox has been reunited with her ill mum after rushing to Queensland from Sydney just in time before border closures came into place.
Angela’s mum, Larelle is battling cancer and is based on the Gold Coast.
The glamorous news presenter made it into the Sunshine State on Sunday after a dash north.
She was finally reunited with her mum on Wednesday after returning a negative COVID test result, sharing the news to her 19,000 Instagram followers.
“I feel like I am holding a Golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory,” Angela wrote on Sunday.
“They cancelled my flight to the GC – the last flight in before cut off – and I was in tears thinking I’d miss this time with my mum.
“I scrambled to find another airline to get into Qld tonight … so did my sister but nothing was available… my dear friend and colleague Emma Dallimore even tried to swap her seat for me so I could get up there.”
“In the end Virgin Australia came through.”
On Monday night, Angela shared an update, thanking everyone for their messages.
“My mind is blown by how many of you were cheering for me to get home with mum,” she said.
“I know I am very lucky to be here under the circumstances and I am being very careful.”
Despite not having visited the Northern Beaches, Angela said she wanted to take every precaution before visiting her mum and took a COVID test and self-isolated first thing on Monday.
“I have worked almost every Christmas of my career and normally don’t mind missing out on what is a special family day … but I couldn’t miss this one,” she wrote earlier.
“Here’s to playing by the rules. We all have to do the right thing to beat this thing and keep everyone safe.”
