The Victorian government has lifted the 25,000 cap on attendance for the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India.
Up to 30,000 punters will be able to attend each day’s play for a maximum attendance of 150,000.
Tickets are on sale now to Cricket Australia members, while the general public can purchase seats from Friday afternoon.
The Boxing Day Test will be the first major sporting event held at the MCG since the state’s coronavirus second wave sent professional sport interstate.
The 100,000-seat stadium is also due to host Big Bash League games from January 15.
