Shoppers have taken to Facebook to share their enormous savings at Big W in recent days.
Bargain hunters have reported seeing huge “$2 clearance sales” at many Big W stores across the country.
It’s understood the sale includes men’s, women’s and kids wear – and popular labels such as Bonds have been included in the $2 markdowns.
Many Big W fans have posted snaps of their receipts from their markdown hauls, with one revealing that she saved a whopping $3000.
“Sooo happy I decided to go out today,” wrote shopper Eunice on the Markdown Madness Australia group.
“At Big W Eastland today. Bonds and other kids clothing.”
Another shopper saved just under $1500 in the sale while another shared her impressive $500 savings.
“I thought today at Big W Booval clearance sale was amazing … going back tomorrow,” said shopper Mel on the Markdown Addicts Australia page.
“Stuff normally $59, marked down to $2.”
One shopper said she was blown away by her mother’s haul, which saw her pick up scores of Bonds buys at Big W for just $2.
“Finally got a bargain! Always so jealous of the people who get the Bonds bargains – well, my mum was shopping this morning and hit the jackpot!” wrote Ezzy on Facebook.
“The price and savings is actually wrong as one item scanned at $24.95 not $2 but she didn’t realise at the time but still a crazy savings. Everything was $2!”
Photos show numerous $2 clearance signs above racks of discounted clothing as well as signage out the front of stores.
While many shoppers across Australia have reported seeing markdowns at their local stores, it’s not known if the sale is in all Big W locations.
It is also uncertain if it relates to the retailer’s announcement in 2019 it would be closing 30 underperforming stores and two distribution centres over three years.
“I heard it’s just stores that are closing down soon, but mine is staying open and had lots of things reduced to $2,” said one.
Added another: “I’m checking my local today just in case.”
