Australians in tears over Indigenous anthem by Olivia Fox before Wallabies v Argentina match

Aussies have united in celebrating the Indigenous-themed Australian anthem that was performed ahead of Saturday night’s Wallabies match.

Olivia Fox from Newtown High School of the Performing Arts performed the heartwarming anthem before Australia tied with Argentina at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney.

The powerful rendition, which you can watch in the video above, began with lyrics from Eora language before finishing in English.

Fox, a proud Wiradjuri woman, was supported by Wallabies players who belted out the anthem after practicing with her earlier in the week.

It was a performance of Advance Australia Fair that brought immense pride to many Australians, with many calling for it to be a regular feature ahead of international sport matches.

The pre-match anthem was also celebrated on Channel 7’s Sunrise News Feed, with host Matt Doran holding back tears as he discussed the beautiful moment.
