Australian surfer turned adult entertainer Ellie-Jean Coffey has opened up on her “life-changing” career transformation.
Ellie-Jean and her younger sister Holly-Daze earlier this year joined a growing list of athletes and celebrities who have opened X-rated websites for money.
Ellie-Jean, 26, said there is “no judgement” in the industry which she describes as a “safe place” but admits the websites have fuelled her already-ultra competitive relationship with Holly-Daze.
The sisters have competed on the World Surf League’s qualifying series but now only get in the ocean for fun after leaving the “misogynistic” world of professional surfing.
Ellie-Jean launched a website called ellieunlocked where customers can pay $10 a month for “uncensored content” which includes highly-sexual photos and videos.
“I would definitely say (my favourite part of the industry is) the freedom to express myself sexually, that part of me has always existed,” Ellie-Jean told Barstool Sports.
“When I did post on my Instagram a lot, it angered a lot of people.
“Now I get to talk to these subscribers who I love and the best part about it is I get to be creative every single day.
“I wake up and think what do you want now, what can I express now, what kind of video or photo … how can I make this work for both of us.
“It’s a unique thing, a unique platform – the creativity and intimacy between the subscriber and me.”
“My new website has completed my life because it’s given me purpose,” she said.
“I’ve always had the pleasure of surfing, now I have the successful business which I feel has truly completed me.
“It’s been hard on social media having all these followers and not being able to talk to them one on one, now launching my website has just been life-changing.
“It allows me to be both a surfing girl and a successful businesswoman.”
Ellie-Jean is the oldest of six children and spent her childhood caravanning around Australia while surfing with her family and being homeschooled.
“My family has been really supportive, with everything I’ve ever done I’ve always been a bit controversial to be honest, but they were really happy,” she said.
She has four sisters and a brother who all surf.
