Alexis Ohanian explodes after Ion Tiriac comments on Serena Williams’ weight

Former world No. 8 tennis player Ion Tiriac has copped the wrath of Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian after the former made comments about her weight.

Tennis star turned billionaire Tiriac, 81, said if Williams had “a little decency” the 39-year-old would retire based on her weight.

“At this age and the weight she is now, she does not move as easily as she did 15 years ago,” Tiriac said on Romanian TV.

“Serena was a sensational player. If she had a little decency, she would retire.”

Tiriac also had a crack at Williams’ weight in 2018 when he said: “With all due respect, 36 years old and 90kg.”

Williams hit back at the time saying: “It’s an ignorant comment and it’s a sexist comment. Maybe he’s an ignorant man.”

But this time it was her husband and the father of their three-year-old daughter, who slammed Tiriac’s criticism.

Reddit co-founder Ohanian mocked Tiriac’s grand slam career, which never progressed past the fourth round in singles.

“Safe to say no one gives a damn what Ion Tiriac thinks,” Ohanian said.

“Had to google (his record) … turns out my three-year-old has more grand slam victories than this.”

After one Twitter user attempted to defend Tiriac, Ohanian hit back.

“Keep defending your racist, sexist clown,” he said.

“(It’s) 2021 and no holding back when a racist/sexist clown with a platform comes for my family.”
