$750 and $250 Centrelink payments – all the details

This information has been provided by the Australian Government.

How many Economic Support Payments you get depends on your circumstances. It also depends on what other payment you get from the Government.

The Economic Support Payment is a one-off payment.

The Government paid most eligible customers $750 in April and July 2020.

There is one more Economic Support Payment of $250. If you’re eligible for this, you’ll get a payment of $250 in March 2021.

You need to get an eligible payment or concession card to get the payment.

You’ll only get each Economic Support Payment once, even if you get more than 1 qualifying payment or card.

If you’re on Income Management or have a Cashless Debit Card, 100% of the payment will go either:

  • onto your Cashless Debit Card
  • into your income managed account.

If you claim Family Tax Benefit for 2020-21 as a lump sum, you’ll get the payment with your lump sum. This could include the $750 payment we paid in July 2020, as well as the $250 payment.

Here’s everything you need to know about the $250 Centrelink payment, how you can claim it, and when you will receive it.

Who is eligible for the payment?

  • Family Tax Benefit

National Seniors Australia has also advised self-funded retirees to check their eligibility for the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, and therefore their ability to claim the handout too.

Eligible Australians will receive $250 from March 2021.

The one-off payment will only be issued once, even to individuals who qualify for more than one payment or card.

Payments will automatically be paid into the bank accounts of eligible Australians.

Australians could miss out on $250 in coronavirus support payments if they don’t lock in their eligibility in the next two days.
